Due to delays in gym floor refinishing, tryouts for the 2019 FCHS Girls’ Volleyball Team will be held at Virginia Beach Middle School. The school is located at 600 25th St, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.

The 4th annual Coach Del Rodil Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Ashley “Mike” Mieczkowski on June 4th at the Senior Awards Night at FC. Congratulations Mike!

Following is information regarding the upcoming volleyball season at First Colonial. For those who are unfamiliar with high school volleyball, this season begins with tryouts in early August and ends with the State tournament in mid-November. Our team is active 6 days per week, Monday through Saturday, with weekday practices in the evening and Saturday practices in the morning. The coaching staff is ready to welcome athletes who are eager to work hard, have fun, and continue our winning tradition.

► Summer Conditioning & Practices will be held at FC on Tuesdays and Thursdays. See specific dates and times posted on the Calendar tab on the team website. Attendance is not required – it is simply an opportunity for players to have court time and instruction available during the off-season. A current physical is required for participation (see below). Rising 9th graders may attend after the conclusion of the 2018-2019 school year.

► Tryouts will be held August 5th through August 7th, 5:00-7:30 p.m. Players should arrive 15 minutes early on the first day to complete the registration form. If needed, a fourth day of tryouts will be conducted on Thursday, August 8th. A current physical is required for participation (see below). Cuts will be made during the course of the tryout period and the final roster will be posted at the end of the last day of tryouts.

► Physicals: A current physical is required for participation in summer sessions and tryouts. The physical must be completed on or after May 1, 2019. Physicals dated prior to May 1, 2019 do not qualify. The VHSL physical form can be printed from www.vhsl.org/forms (folder: sports medicine, file: physical examination) or picked up at FC (main office or athletic training room).
