This post will provide information on the 2020 season. Please check back for updates.

February 8, 2021: Tryouts will begin February 22nd – see Calendar tab for times. All players must register in advance via the online registration form. Contact Coach Magula with questions.

January 26, 2021: Waiting on confirmation from VBCPS regarding our start date. Please be patient and stay tuned for updates.

January 7, 2021: The VBCPS mandate regarding non-school team participation has been lifted. There are still situations regarding travel that could create issues for participation, but membership on a high school team is not affected. Details to follow as season gets closer.

January 5, 2021: VBCPS has issued a mandate that says any player who participates in a club/AAU/travel sports team may not play for a high school team. This mandate is in place “for the foreseeable future.” Stay tuned for updates – there is a chance this will be lifted prior to volleyball start date of February 15.

November 16, 2020: The Beach District has shut down all sports activities until further notice.

October 23, 2020: The Beach District has authorized 30 minutes of indoor time within the total 1 hour of allowed conditioning time. Additionally, some use of equipment is now permitted. Plans for Tuesday “practices” will be posted no later than October 26th. Attendance will be limited to 10 players per coach in accordance with Beach District guidelines. A maximum of 20 players is anticipated. Players will be required to sign up prior to each practice date. A current physical dated on or after May 1, 2020 will be required for participation – no exceptions. In order to receive information about the practice signups, players must complete the Player Interest Form – see the link on the left of the website home page. Please contact Coach Magula with any questions.

September 28, 2020: The VHSL approved a “Championship + 1” playoff schedule for all sports. Volleyball will have a Region tournament and a State tournament (semis and finals only), and any team that does not make the Region tournament will be allowed to schedule 1 additional match. The Beach District is in the process of finalizing the regular season volleyball schedule. Once it has been approved, the matches will be added to this website’s Calendar. In addition, updated guidelines for pre-season practices/conditioning will soon be released by the Beach District. Stay tuned for further information.

July 27, 2020: The VHSL Executive Committee voted to adopt Model 3 for the start of the sports seasons. Volleyball will start on February 15, 2021, with the first contest date of March 1st and the end date of May 1st. Very short preseason and competitive season. Decision has not been made on whether there will be playoffs. Dates, etc., can change depending on virus situation. Please do your part to mitigate the spread!

July 15, 2020: The VHSL Executive Committee met this morning. Please see news release at www.vhsl.org. The Committee will meet again July 27th to vote on 3 Models for sports/activities for the school year. If they choose Model 1, we will not have a season at all. If they choose Model 2 or 3, we will play no earlier than February 2021.

July 14, 2020: Nothing significant from the Governor’s press conference today. The VHSL Executive Committee meets tomorrow morning. Stay tuned.

July 13, 2020: We will start SOMETHING on August 3rd, even if we can only do conditioning. Details to follow. Please be sure to get a physical and bring the completed form with you the first day you attend. We should have an update from the Governor at tomorrow afternoon’s briefing.

July 1, 2020: The VBCPS health plan has been finalized for Stage 1. All high school families will receive the guidelines from VBCPS today. Basically, volleyball is allowed to condition outdoors beginning July 6th. Given the limitations on what we can do, our team will not participate in this stage. Players should continue individual preparations for the season (conditioning, ball control, etc.). Players who are working out with their club teams and/or playing beach are welcome to continue. New players: please sign up for tryouts (see “Calling all players” in the news slider for details).

June 24, 2020: All sports are still on hold. No team activities are allowed. Early July is the projected time frame for the VBCPS plan to be in place. All athletes must have a current physical (dated on or after May 1, 2020) in order to participate. This includes rising freshmen. The VHSL executive committee meets tomorrow and Governor Northam is expected to move Virginia to Phase 3 on July 1. Stay tuned for further updates.
